and it isn't even midnight. We're at -18 .F in the warmer southern part of MN and we shouldn't hit -30 thanks to the 10 mph wind.

Try Fairbanks Alaska. I don't think it gets above freezing once winter sets in. Truly amazing.

Interior Alaska is always cold (-36 right now in Fairbanks.) We've had two days above freezing since November.

It hit -30 earlier (-44 in Int'l Falls) but has since warmed up a couple of degrees. Coldest this winter. Certainly not as cold as Fairbanks except in the north of the state. The junior and senior high school students walk two miles (used to be one mile - way to go Governor Pawlenty), the elementary kids one mile and kindergarten only 1/2 mile. My kids were hoping for a two hour late start but there wasn't enough wind for a late start. We live three miles from school so they take the bus.
