I can't believe that you have to take the dremel and cut this part out to get to the cabin air filter. I need to check the manual tomorrow. This can't be right.

From what I just read, the brace your cutting is used during assembly but not needed afterwards.

Thanks. Still seems complicated compared to civic where you remove two tabs and then flip the glove box down and take the filter out. Takes me less than 2 minutes. Here seems like you need to remove some screws.

It is not a big deal at all. The owner's manual explains it and I did it on my Acura. I used a razor and the plastic part came out very easily. More importantly, I kept the plastic (duct taped it) and years later, it was useful to turn the cut plastic 90 degrees so that it would help keep the filter in place.

Please note that this video is for a 2000 Honda Odyssey. I'm not sure if the most recent generation of minivan needs to do this...

Ha. He says you only need to cut it "the first time you do it." :-)

This must have changed by 2003 because I finally caved when my shop showed me the dirty cabin filter when I was having a few minor things done before a long trip. Don't think they cut it just to show me.

The first cut is the deepest.
