Things to Do-Minneapolis? - TLB - 08-12-2015
We're taking a "service" vacation this year to take my MIL to Minneapolis to visit her sister in assisted living. Any suggestions on activities/places to visit that would take 6 hours or less? (probably the length of her visit each day). Moderately priced, but interesting local restaurant ideas are also welcome. TIA.

Where will you be - in the burbs or downtown? Minn is a big city and traffic is a pain most times of the day now that it's road repair season.

You can skate at the largest hockey rink facility in the world! We were up in Blaine, MN this past weekend for my son's CCM hockey camp. The place had 8 rinks!
My son talked me into the MOA's aquarium and I have to say I enjoyed it way more than I thought.
Don't forget - no sales tax on clothes & shoes!

Six hours each day? And in a northern suburb! Drive up to Duluth and stop at Canal Park. Also visit Enger Tower. Stop at the visitor center just as you crest the hill approaching Duluth overlooking Lake Superior for info on getting to both places. Duluth also has a very nice railroad museum. If you are going towards the end of August then the Minnesota State Fair is worth a visit.
Mainly Minneapolis is dead-boring. Just the way Minneapolitans like it.
