Rx from across the northern border - Fritz - 02-13-2017 anyone have any experience buying Rx from our northern neighbors? Looking into a few of my moms more $$$ meds that aren't covered. Re: Rx from across the northern border - Racer X - 02-13-2017 Yeah, back before it went OTC and generic, I got my Allegra from Canada. No big deal. It was OTC/generic up there years before it was here. Re: Rx from across the northern border - Speedy - 02-13-2017 No personal experience but my mother would bus from her home near Grand Forks to Winnipeg (~2.5 hour trip each way) for Rx. The bus was chartered by our then-Senator Mark Dayton for that specific purpose. At the time no passport was needed. The eventual passage of Medicare Part D made that unnecessary for her. The organizers of the trip would provide information to her on what she needed to bring and do. She has since died so I can't ask her about it. Re: Rx from across the northern border - Dennis S - 02-13-2017 A few years ago, my dentist said his dad got his from Canada by mail. His dad was a retired pharmacist. Have you tried goodrx.com? Re: Rx from across the northern border - Fritz - 02-13-2017 goodrx.com is no cheaper Re: Rx from across the northern border - cbelt3 - 02-13-2017 So.. what pharmacy would you use in CA if you needed to ? because my asthma meds are stupid expensive. Despite being legal to go to generic for three years. Because the FDA is too protective of the pharma industry. Re: Rx from across the northern border - Buzz - 02-13-2017 We ordered a bunch of stuff from our northern neighbors in the past, much of which ended up being shipped from India... some of which were actually European/Asian brand name meds when we were expecting generics. No major trouble, except for the occasional delay; one time they had to re-ship part of an order, though it eventually showed up. The packages arrived as "gifts", and were wrapped like presents, though the bubble packed pills were tightly packed together and came sans box. The inhalers we got for our kid came boxed (and wrapped), and ran about $12/ea delivered, compared to $40 - $50/ea at best via our insurance at the time. If you can get hooked up w/ a reputable northerner, might as well go for it. Good luck. == Re: Rx from across the northern border - space-time - 02-13-2017 I bought my Epipen from Canada in July. It saved my life in October. EDIT: I was there in person, not by mail. No Rx required. Re: Rx from across the northern border - ka jowct - 02-14-2017 I used to get methimazole from a place in Canada for one of my cats. My vet had to fax them a prescription, IIRC. Re: Rx from across the northern border - pipiens - 02-14-2017 I have had nothing but good experiences with meds from Canada. |
