Have we seen the last of the refurbished 15-inch retina MacBook Pros? - john-o - 03-01-2017

www.refurb.me doesn't even show any out-of-stock options for Apple Store refurbs. Tell me it isn't so!

They have been coming into stock in small batches every week or two. I do not see any reason for the pattern to change in the near future.

I don't know, because I can't find any trace of recent models on Apple's refurbished page. The higher-end ones, that's for sure.

eBay doesn't cut it, because I need a model with full one-year Apple warranty, and eligible for AppleCare.

Some of the MacBook Pro Retinas on eBay are supposed to be Apple refurbished with warranty and eligible for AppleCare.

You can go to https://www.refurb.me/en-us/mac-laptop and sort by about a dozen categories. Then set an alert when you find the one you want. USB 3.0 is a very popular feature, which eliminates everything before the Mid-2012 model (MacBookPro9,1). Having cheaply and easily upgradeable HD matters to a lot of people, so that eliminates everything after the Mid-2012 model. Yes, that means there is only one desirable refurb model in the last 6 years. Confusedmiley-laughing001:

It is possible to link to a specific refurb model on the Apple site, but they don't currently list out of stock models which makes it difficult to quickly look if the one you want is currently in stock. http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook_pro/index-macbookpro.html is one of the best places to search for specific features.

Don't forget that Apple refurb models have a different product number than the identical "new" machine.

Does that site only link to Mac of all Trades?

I'm very familiar with refurb.me, though was a lot more of a fan when all they showed was Apple's refurbished options, as that the only thing I'll buy, other than brand new, unless I personally know the seller of a used machine, and know how they took care of it.

What prompted my post was that refurb.me's feature of showing out-of-stock models, in order to set up an alert for when a model comes back in stock, showed no 15-inch models, even as out-of-stock. That worried me.

I'll keep looking, and hope that they come back in stock soon!
