Recommend a reliable office printer - volcs0 - 10-09-2006 I've been asked to recommend a printer for one of our workrooms (at a hospital). It will be a "workhorse" printer for printing protocols, labs, etc. Priorities should be 1. Speed 2. Duplex 3. Reliability Color is not necessary. Workload would be 50-500 pages/day (usually closer to 100). Cost should be $500-$1000. Suggestions? Thanks. sam Re: Recommend a reliable office printer - Ken Sp. - 10-09-2006 As much as I hate Lexmark inkjets--we have good luck with the Lexmark Lasers. Re: Recommend a reliable office printer - Billybob - 10-09-2006 Your load doesn't seem that heavy. The HP 1320 is a pretty rugged lp with duplexing, plenty fast (~20 pages/min??), and I think your load is within its rated capacity. Re: Recommend a reliable office printer - spearmint - 10-09-2006 I go with HP, Lexmark seems to be winning the office wars though. Re: Recommend a reliable office printer - anonymouse1 - 10-09-2006 HP 1320 is either 5000 or 10000 pages per month rated capacity. Re: Recommend a reliable office printer - Ken Sp. - 10-09-2006 I have the HP 1320 and it is fine for home office use, but the paper try only holds about 100 sheets, and most Lexmarks hold a full ream. Re: Recommend a reliable office printer - jdc - 10-09-2006 the 1320tn is the big boy of the 1320 series -- exrtra trays and ethernet but it sounds like you should move up to a 3000 series or even 4000 series HP http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/product_detail.do?storeName=storefronts&landing=printers&category=laserjets&orderflow=1&product_code=Q7816A%23ABA&catLevel=1 4000 series are rated at 200,000 pages -- great machines -- i have worked with the older 4000 series printers, they crank Re: Recommend a reliable office printer - OWC Jamie - 10-09-2006 My HP1320n holds a half ream of paper. rated 10,000 pages a month (fwiw) great for my small office 500 pages a day might be pushing it. One of my sub-contractors buys HP toner in bulk. Has a copy/laser repair business. Parts should be cheaper through him, too. Only does HP. Re: Recommend a reliable office printer - anonymouse1 - 10-09-2006 If you're willing to buy used, ebay has great deals on HP 4000 printers all the time, and those things are tanks. Re: Recommend a reliable office printer - volcs0 - 10-09-2006 This hospital has big pockets. I put in a recommendation for a HP P3005dn. Thanks for the help. -sam |
