Physically distance yourself. Socialize from afar.

Hi everyone,

Seems like "Social distancing" is the term of the day. I don't like it. I read a letter to the editor about the term and it got me thinking. Social distancing is an oxymoron. The heart of social distancing is physically distancing yourself from people. Why call it social distancing? We need to do is _physically_ distance from each other, which is very different than social distancing.

We are a social people and society. Socializing is a critical part of our well-being. Instead of socially distancing from people, I’m _physically_ distancing myself from them. That way, I can socialize with people from afar and maintain that crucial connection while physically distancing myself from them to help prevent the spread of the virus.

Social distancing, no. Physical distancing, yes. Just socialize from afar.

Just my opinion.

Robert

"Social distancing" is a much better term of the day than "aerosolized feces".

Well, no argument there!

Yeah, the social bit is odd.

Also the part about feces.

I thought I read or read someone they were going to change the term to physical distancing, but 8 guess that either didn’t happen or didn’t catch on.

Sadly, too late to change now.

Confusedmiley-signs006:

No more an oxymoron than “social isolation”. They both represent states of socialization.

Deusx,

The definitions of the terms say otherwise.
