Accidentally biting inside of lip - hard - Dennis S - 07-15-2020

While chewing, my teeth will snap down on my inner lip without my control, extremely fast and hard. I can't move my my muscles that fast and hard on my own. Two doctors blew it off. I think it's neurological. B12 used to help but not anymore.

Get a good frenemy to smash your foot w/ a sledge hammer hard enough that you forget about your lip?

Are you getting enough protein?

Pay more attention while you are eating, and ask the doc for a muscle relaxant. TMJ and other jaw problems can cause this. You probably do it during sleep, as well.

Lysine can help with healing of the mouth wound.

Paying attention doesn't work. It happens without my control. It's independent of the normal biting. I used to wake up with my teeth clamped down on my tongue but B12 stopped that. My B12 checks out normal, but I still take some because of anemia, just in case. I eat well, so I'm probably getting enough protein, but I'll look into it.

Involuntary jaw clenching can be indicative of underlying stress and anxiety.

It's not clenching. I know what you mean and it's not that.

It tickles a memory but I can't seem to pull it up, sort of a reflex and sort of a spasm. Cascade is wrong too. The bad news is it was related to a brain/nerve issue.

I accidentally bite my lip every once in a while, it's PAINFUL. You have my sympathies for sure.

Sorry for your challenges, hope you get some good advice!
