Re: Heart's "What About Love" video: An 80's masterpiece of cringe-worthy? - rich in distress - 05-30-2022 That solo is dope! And the hair, oooh the hair… Re: Heart's "What About Love" video: An 80's masterpiece of cringe-worthy? - Fritz - 05-30-2022 uchhhh! the 1st 2 LPs and maybe D&B were great records with solid band written songs. Once they stepped outside the band for songwriting, and I really like Holly Knight and others, it all turned to noise and drivel. Ron Nevison was a brilliant record maker. But this is shite to me. Those haircuts! Geez, and they're coming back, like much of the worst of the 80s. Can't wait til Milli Vanilli comes back. and OMFG that smoke & fire video. I'd bet the Wilsons would love to forget it. (other than the $$$$). 80s power rock ballads do not age well to my ears. I rather listen to Anita Bryant. But man, they could cut a Zep cover like no one else. Re: Heart's "What About Love" video: An 80's masterpiece of cringe-worthy? - mrbigstuff - 05-30-2022 I voted, "ooof." Re: Heart's "What About Love" video: An 80's masterpiece of cringe-worthy? - Lew Zealand - 05-30-2022 You asked for video- total cringe. Song's OK though. Re: Heart's "What About Love" video: An 80's masterpiece of cringe-worthy? - SteveG - 05-30-2022 Toronto, eh? The song was originally recorded in 1983 by Canadian rock group Toronto, of which songwriters Sheron Alton and Brian Allen were members. (The other songwriter, Jim Vallance, was not a member of Toronto, though he played drums on Toronto's recording of the song.) However, the rest of the band elected not to release the song, and the frustration Allen and Alton faced in being unable to convince their bandmates to feature this and other material on Toronto's albums led to their departure from the group. Re: Heart's "What About Love" video: An 80's masterpiece of cringe-worthy? - JoeM - 05-30-2022 IMHO - the song: not one of their best, typical 80's "product". The video: a typical MTV nightmare, the smoke, the blinding backlights, the fire, the humongous gobs of "product" poofing up the hair, the bizarre clothing. But I do like the hammer Ann first carries out. If I had a dollar for every time I saw an MTV video and said WTF does that have to do with the subject and lyrics of the song? ... |
