Where to dump construction matierials? - blusubaru - 05-16-2007
I'm getting nowhere with Google, YellowPages, or my Mayor's telephone service. This is a small trailer load of broken down drywall. We knocked out a wall and I want to get rid of the remnants. Can I haul such a thing to the doorstep of a landfill? I would consider a dumpster except this is a one-time load, too small for a dumpster, but too big for my garbage cans.

All that stuff is coordinated through my village/town hall and the rules vary widely from location to location. Your best bet it to call your local govt. office and talk to them.

Our garbage company handles this type of debris at a cost.

Find a builder with a dumpster, a local guy is best. and offer him a few bucks, $5-$10 to dump the stuff in his dumpster. Easy and legal.

Your town/city most suredly has a web-site.
You should be able to find landfill or transfer station number to call for hours and what they will/will not take.
Dry wall has to be recylcled here.
Not accepted in landfills any more. (gaseously odorific)
Has to be dry and unpainted.
Wet and painted drywall has to be seperated and trucked out of state.
Cardboard has to be recycled, too.
Big fines for tipping it into a landfill.
* what I do is bust it up into little pieces and put a little bit in every bag every week. :-)

My county has a separate landfill for construction debris.
