Is anyone else being driven slowly mad by interference from their cell phone? - ho'ard - 01-23-2008

ATT/Cingular GSM . . .
Consistent pattern to interference (with anything with a speaker nearby, e.g. TV, computer, clock radio), then at other times random morse-code, sometimes lasting a few minutes, all hours . . . presumably negotiating with towers or whatever but it's been increasing and it's frikkin' disturbing (especially when it makes me think the phone's about to ring at 2 AM).
Does anyone here =not= notice this? Any tricks for minimizing it?
Thx . . .

No problems here, but I'm using Sprint so...

My Cingular/AT&T is crisp and clear around here. Sorry. Sad

h', I know exactly what you mean. Can't put the phone anywhere close to a computer with speakers or "computer-like" device (like the VOIP phone on my desk at work.) It's stupid.

Same here.

I was at a conference last year - 10,000 people in the audience, and the keynote speaker had a cell phone in his pocket - and everytime he got a text or call, the whole PA system would have that telltale buzzing sound - someone had to come out and take his cell phone away from him.

My phone has recently started "sending" to a TV across the room . . .
I can live with the ones that come with calls or texts-- it's the rest of the time that's really bugging me.

I have AT&T and have never experienced it. Sit next to tv and radio. Nokia 2610 now. Your phone could be problem.

AD, it's not an at&t/cingular thing, it's a GSM thing.

The *phone* sounds fine. It's the interference it generates in powered/amped speakers.

I have no idea what's happening. My mail is set to manually update only, so barring phone calls and text messages, I don't know what it is.

I get a very strong signal at home, so it *shouldn't* be searching.
