Lenovo mocks MacBook Air ad with X300 - Rick-o - 05-03-2008 Ouch! That stings! OTOH, it is kind of clever, in it's own smarmy way. http://www.electronista.com/articles/08/05/02/x300.mocks.macbook.air/ Re: Lenovo mocks MacBook Air ad with X300 - sekker - 05-03-2008 I picked up a friend's MBA the other day... I'm with Lenovo on this one. Re: Lenovo mocks MacBook Air ad with X300 - ztirffritz - 05-03-2008 I still think that the MBA is an amazing device perfectly suited for a small niche, but on the whole, I think this ad nails it. Re: Lenovo mocks MacBook Air ad with X300 - Filliam H. Muffman - 05-03-2008 I just read a review of a Toshiba yesterday. It only has a 12.1" screen instead of the 13.3" on the MBA, but it is rated for 6 hr battery life, has most of the ports of a regular MacBook, DVD+RW, AND a Carbus slot for a broadband card while weighing in right at 3 lb. Yes it is thicker, but it is a pretty nice setup if you want all the hardware options in one package. That used to be the selling point of getting a Mac, it had all the features people could want. The MBA is great though if you have a WiFi N network set up and do not use discs much. Re: Lenovo mocks MacBook Air ad with X300 - ztirffritz - 05-03-2008 How does one get the original OS onto a MBA? Does it use NetBoot or something like that? You must go into the firmware and tell it the IP address of the boot server. Re: Lenovo mocks MacBook Air ad with X300 - OWC Jamie - 05-03-2008 Neither one of them have a 25 pin printer port, a nine pin serial port, nor a floppy drive. More yuppy crap. They both suck. :-) Insert Cubs logo here: Re: Lenovo mocks MacBook Air ad with X300 - will2000 - 05-03-2008 I hate the Lenovo my company gave me to replace my PowerBook. They're both 15" but he Lenovo is a bulky beast, at least 3 pounds heavier. I guess they're trying to be a me-too, but failing miserably. Re: Lenovo mocks MacBook Air ad with X300 - Black Landlord - 05-03-2008 I like the MBA and its ad a lot, and see the product as a success for the niche market it's aimed at (people sitting in urban cafes managing their craigslist personals ads and trying to look hot), but I think this is hilarious-- I laughed just reading the description. One thing I would have done differently-- I invariably choose the wrong port (don't touch that one billb) when I go to plug in a peripheral . . . Would love to see Apple come back with a parody of the parody . . .
