"BA Returns to Future Versions of Office for Mac
The Mac BU also announced it is bringing VBA-language support back to the next version of Office for Mac. Sharing information with customers as early as possible continues to be a priority for the Mac BU to allow customers to plan for their software needs.2 Although the Mac BU increased support in Office 2008 with alternate scripting tools such as Automator and AppleScript — and also worked with MacTech Magazine to create a reference guide, available at http://www.mactech.com/vba-transition-guide — the team recognizes that VBA-language support is important to a select group of customers who rely on sharing macros across platforms. The Mac BU is always working to meet customers’ needs and already is hard at work on the next version of Office for Mac."

No VBA update for Office 2008 - VBA coming to the NEXT version of Office for Mac.

Puh-lease. Ooops, we made a mistake and we'll fix it four years from now. Count on us to be responsive to your needs.
Is it just me or is this typical MS MO announcing new features years before it will ship to dissuade users from another product - recently announced OpenOffice 3?

Or just another reason to skip Office 2008 and continue using 2004 or V.x.

I could tell you a story about Visual Basic for Mac. From 1996.
It was ready to ship, and then it vanished. Sales people instructed to SWEAR that no such thing existed nor ever did, despite promises on previous visit to provide the beta.
RealBasic followed up.... and even MacroCrud was caught using it to make some of their own stuff.
