Why can't they chill sodas in Europe? - Mac1337 - 05-29-2008 Here I am walking around at CDG and every soda bottle I have touched is barely cold. Not to mention that they are charging $5 for a 16oz bottle. I found myself actually checking if it is a refrigerator they are in or some kind of display window. Gotta love those WaWa coolers! Re: Why can't they chill sodas in Europe? - mikebw - 05-29-2008 It so they taste even worse than they did before, which is pretty hard to do. Re: Why can't they chill sodas in Europe? - Lux Interior - 05-29-2008 The Coke in Paris is made with real sugar. There are ice-cold ones in my fridge. Key is under the mat. Re: Why can't they chill sodas in Europe? - freescotland - 05-29-2008 Real sugar makes an enormous difference and is far healthier in the long run. Only place in US I've found Coke made with cane sugar is some of the Mexican stores. I never understood the tepid soft drink appeal. Other than it being cheaper for the merchant not to chill the drinks, it is very strange. I know those who have grown up with it, however, and are conditioned to believe it tastes good (until you get them to drink a few iced down, then they cannot go back). BTW, Lux, I like the Rapid Roy reference in your sig. Re: Why can't they chill sodas in Europe? - macphanatic - 05-29-2008 Stock up on Coke during Passover - made with 100% cane sugar. With the cost of corn going up due to ethanol production, some companies are looking at going back to cane. IIRC, the switch to corn sugar was to help the ailing farmer. Re: Why can't they chill sodas in Europe? - Stavs - 05-29-2008 We found coke with sugar at the Fresh Market (its a chain). They dont sell six packs or cases, but they have it available singly in their refridgerated drinks section. Re: Why can't they chill sodas in Europe? - mattkime - 05-29-2008 [quote Dakota]Gotta love those WaWa coolers! someone is from the mid-atlantic! Re: Why can't they chill sodas in Europe? - guitarist - 05-29-2008 Because chilled beverages are a major cause of global warming, of course! Re: Why can't they chill sodas in Europe? - OWC Jamie - 05-29-2008 Ha - ask for ice. :-) (if you actualy get some you may have to scrape off the ice age mold) Re: Why can't they chill sodas in Europe? - Racer X - 05-29-2008 because in England, the refridgerators are made by Lucas? |
