Nice Place to Stay in Denver? - aquilles10 - 07-23-2009 I'm visiting Denver in September for a wedding. I've only been to Denver once and it was due to my plane being grounded because of a snow storm. I would like to stay close to downtown because of the wedding, but I really need a nice place to stay since this will be my decent vacation in a while. I was thinking of either the Grand Hyatt near the convention center or the Warwick hotel. Any other places I should consider? Re: Nice Place to Stay in Denver? - tenders - 07-23-2009 Depending on what you're looking for in a hotel you might find this place interesting: http://www.brownpalace.com/ It's a nice, old hotel but it is not a resort. What always amazes me about Denver is how far the airport is from...well...everything. The airport was incredibly far from the city. The Brown Palace looks nice! I'll show it to my S.O. Thanks! Re: Nice Place to Stay in Denver? - microchip - 07-23-2009 Yes, but it's a nice Airport. Always in the middle of storms though. It's also a pleasant drive from Boulder compliments of the Northwest Parkway. The Hyatt is only a few years old versus the 100 plus years the Brown Palace has been around. Don't get me started on DIA. I always thought Stapleton was just fine. Re: Nice Place to Stay in Denver? - DRR - 07-23-2009 Brown Palace used to be a client of mine. Nice, historic hotel. The other places I'd consider downtown are Hotel Teatro and the Oxford. I would not recommend the Curtis. Also, fancier digs in Cherry Creek North (about a 10 minute drive from downtown). The J.W. Marriott there is pretty nice. Stapleton was nice for local traffic, but small. DIA is one of the top 10 busiest airports in the world. And more people = more $$$. Re: Nice Place to Stay in Denver? - aquilles10 - 07-23-2009 I checked out the Teatro and it looks beautiful. I think I am going to stay at the Grand Hyatt because there seems to be some nice packages for it on Hotwire and Priceline. DIA is one of the nicest airports I've ever been to. Even though I was stranded there a couple of years ago, it puts my hometown's airport, LAX, to shame. But then again, just about every airport is better than LAX. Re: Nice Place to Stay in Denver? - particleman - 07-23-2009 I forgot to mention that the Grand Hyatt has a rooftop outdoor spa with a nice view toward the west. |
