click on "Show msgs from this user"

I don't have that option. It's not an option in Safari, Chrome, Firefox, or on iOS.

and if I hover over the "user ignored - click to show hide" the link shows up as
j‌avascript:%20togglemsg('ig1551999');
which doesn't do anything. As I recall, it's supposed to toggle the message on/off while leaving the user ignored.

I either have to log out, or hit "quote" to read the message. I have no way to unignore the dude, and it's been bugging me for years.

Re: Adding more subforums - DRR - 05-03-2013

The relative disorganization is one of the main appeals of the forum to me.

Someone post a car question? Maybe I can answer. I have a question about what kind of screws to use in a cabinet install? Most likely, a MRF poster has experience and can help. And I have a good assurance that with a single main forum, my subject line will at least get out in front of a number of people.

However, you start splitting the forums, and you exponentially decrease the traffic to each one. I'm happy to browse a big forum with a number of off-topic posts. I'm not going to browse a tips and deals forum, and then go back out to the forum list, and then select off topic/cars, and then go back again to browse off topic/carpentry.

As an example, mrbigstuff's post about Pepsi guys at Costco:

So, I see four guys in the food court with two new Pepsi machines right at closing time.

this place keeps me apprised of all I need to know in life.

can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen.

can we rename it to THE KITCHEN?

I second that emotion.

What DRR says above.

Re: Adding more subforums - Mike Johnson - 05-03-2013

Actually, I figured it out, thanks to you! I noticed your graphic had the post headers as

Subject Line
Posted by User
Date

whereas mine is:

User
Subject Line
Date

It turns out to be a problem with the "multiple messages per page, threaded" display option in the control center. I switched it to Default, unignored the poor bastard, and switched it back to my beloved multiple messages threaded view. In that view, you can't ignore a user, or unignore them.

Thank you, hal!!!!!!

Glad you figured it out before we move to lots of sub-forums where your plea may have gone unnoticed.

Re: Adding more subforums - OWC Larry - 05-03-2013

#1 - it's not monetary... That being said, we're supporting the 'main forum' as a sponsor, but the politcal side drains resources from our support that could go to the main forum.

I'm starting to get the sense that the rationale for this might be monetary...? OWC Larry, can you confirm/deny?

#2 - I like the Tips n' deals and etc as it is. Really no desire to split that all up and - as clearly seen in feedback, the couple that were suggesting it are far in the minority. Smile But you never can tell till ya ask - which is what they did.

Exactly right.
