I bought one for $38. It's in my 6400 which is still running btw. Upgraded the heck out of that thing, all with bargains found on dealmac. :-)

I can't remember whether I sold mine or not. For all I know it's in the spare parts box out in my shed.

I forget now what the price point was down to on the Ultimate Rez when I bought mine. Still works when I boot up the StarMax 5500 I upgraded with it. But it took one exchange to get a working card. The way iXMicro packaged the cards allowed them to shift in the boxes. That shifting snapped a connection for one of the discrete components, a power transistor as I recall.

Something I've always been curious about is the ratio of men to women. Seems to be a LOT more men than women on this (and the old) forum, or is it just that user names don't really reflect gender?

Rather typical of geek forums. And I'd hazard a guess that most of the women here lurk a lot more than post.

And yes, the user names don't really reflect gender.

My first post there was 04/06/00 but I lurked there since 1998.

Present.

Lurked/posted at old place since sometime in 1997. May have found it via some http://xlr8yourmac.com reference. Was very good at ending threads... :-\

All the forums I frequent skew heavily male. Computers, cars, sports.

As for me, I was looking through my oldest posts at the old forum - they date back to Dec 99, which is when I settled on my current handle. I remember the great forum crash, and how you didn't need to register. Looking back on some of those old posts is a blast from the past.

Some things that I posted about - Iomega Buz, SCSI CD-writers, the iXMicro Ultimate Rez deal, buying tips from onsale.com... I even found one that referenced "Cyberian Outpost." Before they were Outpost.com, before they were bought by Fry's. Remember those good old days? Free (or was it just incredibly discounted) next day shipping on everything!

Speaking of dead forums. I was extremely unhappy when that one bit the dust.

My oldest post in the archive is from 2003, but I'm sure I posted earlier under a different name before registration was necessary.
