Re: The Fix List - Please Read before Posting - PeterB - 09-18-2008 papercup, that'd be an easy buy, since Camino's free. ![]() Edit: fil, papercup is right and it's probably a Camino problem -- I just checked with Safari on my same current machine (MacBook) and the main page looks good (noticeably bigger font). Still doesn't solve the problem, though -- are you checking with the same version I'm using? 1.6.3 is the latest, as far as I'm aware. Would be nice not to have to either switch browsers just for this site, OR always hit the "make text bigger" option. Makes no difference which User Agent I have it set for. Re: The Fix List - Please Read before Posting - Black Landlord - 09-18-2008 Could people please remember to include which browser (and version) they're using when making "looks fine"/ "too big"/etc. statements? 'fil, which browser is that in your screen shot? Looks about perfect. Re: The Fix List - Please Read before Posting - Kiva - 09-18-2008 I liked the search field on the left above the name of the forum section....makes more sense to me.. kiva Re: The Fix List - Please Read before Posting - vicrock - 09-18-2008 I just checked in Safari and Camino on my machine looks just the same as Safari. Re: The Fix List - Please Read before Posting - papercup - 09-18-2008 Camino looks chunkier/slightly bolder on 3 machines, FF just a little heavy, Safari rendering the fonts thinnest. Size seems consistent, though. Worlds better than earlier today. Re: The Fix List - Please Read before Posting - Sam3 - 09-18-2008 Speaking of the search field, can the "advanced" be moved closer to the search field. To me, the 'advanced' just seems to be floating aimlessly and doesn't reflect that advanced is tied to the search function. You were actually quoting me GGD "new" shows up on thread that you have never read as well as threads that you have read, so seeing "new" doesn't tell you that it's a thread that you've read before. About the only way to tell is to look at the number of "new" posts and compare it to the total number of posts for that thread to see if you have read it. That is not something that can be easily done by glancing at a page of thread subjects. My apologies. I was getting a bit confused trying to weed out the parts I didn't want quoted above my post. I do understand that "new" shows up on threads I haven't read as well as those I have. That's what makes the color change so valuable. If the color of a thread I've been following stays a different color, I can tell at a quick glance if there are any new messages since I last looked at it. When all titles revert to the same color after I leave the site and come back, I have to sit here and read the titles again to find the one(s) I might be looking for. That's how it had been, and I consider it a much more important feature than quibbling over font size or smileys. Yes, I'm hungry. And cranky. So I'm leaving now to meet a friend for dinner. I'd say something like "and I expect this to be fixed when I get back!", but I know that's unreasonable. Tomorrow is another day, and I'm a hopeful person. I would insert a smiley so you know I'm just kinda putting you guys on, but... It's a sensitive subject right now, so I'll pass. I think you and I are in agreement about the usefulness of the way it used to work. We seemed to both depend on it for the same easy scanning. And both feel that it is not "fixed". What I didn't quite follow was the remark "Well, I thought that's what "new" was for. ???", because when it also causes the color to change to the same as never read threads, it's pretty useless. When the read threads remain a different color, then "new" is a valuable feature. Another "bug"/annoyance is the way the font shrinks in nested quotes. It's impossible to read the innermost quote in this post. Re: The Fix List - Please Read before Posting - PeterB - 09-18-2008 vicrock wrote: Right, but what versions, and what default font sizes? I'd be happy to post screenshots, if that would help anyone figure this out. |
