Sounds like something Microsoft would do.

The FREE upgrade is very good news! I had begun to regret buying the AppleTV when it first came out, with its annoying limits, I felt I'd purchased too soon, I was dreading that Apple might offer an improved one a year later and make mine obsolete. Firmware upgrades are a good thing, whew!
MS actually has a pretty decent remote. Much better than Apple's.

12" is going to suck. Even apple's own site doesn't work at 1024x768 and anything higher res than that on a 12" screen is too small.
