I obviously didn't explain it clearly, but you just did it better.

" When the read threads remain a different color, then "new" is a valuable feature."

Yes, I think we are in total agreement. I want any threads I've read to remain a different color from the first time I read it until the point at which it floats off into oblivion and I no longer care, regardless of the number of times I've left the site and come back. And I rely on "new" to tell at a glance if any new posts have been added to that thread since my last visit.
Alpha - I'll ask admin Jim to take a look at it

Freeradical, not sure what your trouble is. I did a test using camino 1.5 and had no problems.

Phil/Jim, for reference here is a shot of the same thread open on my Mac (17" CRT 1280x1024) in Safari 3 & Camino 1.5.

I think a lot of the font issues folks are experiencing have to do with how they have the defaults setup for whatever browser they are using ie. default fonts and display dpi settings.

One other thing I noticed when doing the testing is that in some browsers the look of the forum often changed, sometimes dramatically once you had actually logged in to the forum vs simply viewing it anonamously...

Using Firefox 3.0.1, some topics have a changed color after viewing and refreshing, some don't.

I see on the front page that it says that it's fixed, but it seems intermittent to me...

Now the fonts on the main screen for the Tips & Deals page is bigger? It was just smaller, a couple of hours ago.

I'm getting motion sickness...

Harbormaster - thanks for the additional shots

Cary - there are still some intermittent problems with the link color (see Alpha Dogs posts)

I have sent a short fix list of outstanding issues to admin Jim and that was one on the list.

Note to those still following - I will leave this thread up for now, while admin Jim has time to catch up with us.

At that point we will evaluate where we are and repost a new fix list if necessary.

Thanks to all for your patience and input !

Yep, fonts got blowed up real big.

Re: The Fix List - Please Read before Posting - Janit - 09-18-2008

The current message list font (at 12:50 PM EDT) is a clear improvement over the last incarnation, though I can see why some might feel it is a tad big. The previous incarnation was definitely too small for comfort. Is there not a size in between the two? Forum list is now spot-on for me. (Firefox 2.0.0.7).

In message list the controlling factor in line-spacing seems to be the fact that the Last Post entry is a double line. If the Last Post entry were a single line, then there could be tighter spacing between entries while maintaining the current readable font. Or perhaps the fonts of the Last Post double lines could be reduced without reducing the others. Just a thought...

Successive reduction of font size in quoted blocks makes the innermost block unreadable. The previous version of the forum did not reduce the font size for quotes, and I think that worked just fine.

Thanks for all the hard work.

First, your work is excellent. Seriously. You're doing this for people who do not provide anything but some entertainment, and thery're a tough crowd, with all the design experience in the room. It's kind of like pitching AA ball and the crowd is packed with AAA and major league pitchers who are eager to criticize.

The only comment I'd have is that the green bar on the friendly political ranting side is, well, deeply retro. I'm old enough to not mind it, but it's probably driving the sub 45 set bats (they never saw greenbar paper in their professional lives).
