I've lived in NYC/Tri-State area for all my life and I still get lost in Jersey. The signs are just awful.

Jersey?! Are you insane? I've lived in NYC/Tri-State area for all my life and I still get lost in Jersey. The signs are just awful. You're advising this country bumpkin to drive into Jersey, park and then take NJ Transit into Penn Station, then he has to take the subway to whereever his hotel is? Good luck! That'll be a 3-hour detour for him—ON A GOOD DAY. LOL It's different if you know Jersey well.

LOL! Maybe I just had good directions! It didn't take me anywhere near 3 hours and this city bumpkin (Chicago native and current resident) knows nothing about New Jersey.
In any case, looks like he has better advice re: long term parking in NYC. I never wanted to deal with it.

First heard the story from an Indian. He thought it was a great example of how shrewd Indian businesspeople are.
He saw it in very complimentary terms; I took it that way.
He also claimed (as does the web site) that it is a true story.

I sincerely appreciate the feedback and suggestions. It sounds like the safest approach (for this country bumpkin- LOL!
) would be to find a hotel that has parking available or has nearby parking available through some third party garage. BTW- I don't mind the "country bumpkin" reference. While I lived the first 18 years of my life in the Chicago suburbs, that was many years ago, so, the "bumpkin" moniker does fit!I do sincerely appreciate all of the input and advice!

I park on the Lower east side for free when i visit my kids. You have to watch the parking rules and be there to move your car at the appointed time on the appointed day. Also don't leave anything visible in the car and have an old car.
This probably won't work for you.
Best bet mentioned above is the hotel with parking included.
