I'm having yogurt and fruit for lunch. I am looking forward to it already!

What a wacky article full of useless info.
1,160 positions, 233 applications and only 36 hires ?
Were 197 of them horribly handicapped ( in some manner , shape or form) ?
Had no idea what an asparagus vegetable or fruit was ? Were not allowed (court order ) to brandish a knife ?

You DO know that most Americans aren't 'migratory'. Right ?

First of all I am not saying it is easy work. But neither is coal mining. I don't see very many illegals in that trade and plenty of takers. My main point is how can you be unemployed and refuse any job. What other source of income is there that competes favorably with a full time job.

Your last statement couldn't be more false. How was this country settled in the first place? It is long way from Plymouth Rock to Los Angeles. I alone traveled thousands of miles to get here. I can and will move again if I have to.

Begging your pardon, but that's not a point; it's a question. I'm thinking that the answer involves a huge range of reasons, including what one is willing to sacrifice, one's support system, one's physical abilities, etc.

Dakota-
I'm afraid that the "Pioneer Spirit" is pretty well gone.. due to a lack of 'frontiers' to be explored. Those of us with families, homes, etc. are working hard at keeping what we have. The Dust Bowl migrant workers were facing a binary solution set- migrate or starve to death. Barring some deliberate acts, I don't think any Americans have 'starved to death' recently.

I will admit that I moved to a new city for a good job 15 years ago, with two children. After being un and under-employed for 3 years. I would do the same thing again if I had to, but not for a temporary job paying minimum wage- the cost would be too high.

Low wage jobs pull from the local workforce, or from a workforce that can move around and afford to live temporarily in a new town. To equate overall unemployment with job openings for migratory farm workers is disingenuous at best.

Yummy! Hope that was a Washington state honeycrisp..

I'm having a Pacific Rose for breakfast...still early here.

No wonder this forum never comes up in Google searches. The place just oozes with intellect.

Yes, I'm sure it oozes with intellect from your point of view. And how about learning the meaning of "never" and "hyperbole".

Take a look at this, Dakota:

Dakota doesn't know how to conduct Google searches, so how would he know if this place comes up or not?
