Re: -41 F. at International Falls - MacArtist - 01-21-2011 -19ºF (wind chill) in north central Iowa. Not a record breaker but still damn cold. Re: -41 F. at International Falls - OWC Jamie - 01-21-2011 It's a bit cold at OWC this morning. -9 °F with -25 wind chill. Re: -41 F. at International Falls - michaelb - 01-21-2011 It is coming to us this weekend. I have only "seen" -40 F once, but it is hard to know since most or all thermometers bottom out at -30 or -40. -20 F is about when cars start having a real hard time starting; -30 F lots of cars won't start; -40 F engine oil is like taffy. Monday morning may be interesting around here. Might as well get out and enjoy the day, though, eh? I was so proud! Re: -41 F. at International Falls - Lux Interior - 01-21-2011 I like -40. It's easy to convert. Re: -41 F. at International Falls - Paul F. - 01-21-2011 Come spring, move south. Brrrrr!!! During the summer, it gets quite a bit warmer in Fairbanks than Anchorage due to the cooling affect of the ocean. People start complaining about the heat in Anchorage when the temperatures get into the low 70's. Re: -41 F. at International Falls - AllGold - 01-21-2011 It's a beautiful *looking* day here in Michigan. Sunny with clear blue skies. It doesn't feel too beautiful outside but I can't complain too much since it's about 12F (above). Re: -41 F. at International Falls - Speedy - 01-21-2011 Just got back from our morning walk. 3.42 miles according to Runkeeper on my iPhone. Time: 1:03:32, 3.23 MPH. -22 when we left, -21 now. And it truly is the windchill you feel: -30 but feels miserable on the eyes. I had a heavy layer of frost on the inside surface of my glasses. But we layer and a scarf to wear over your mouth is essential to warm the air you breath. My wife is from Mexico City and she hates the cold but loves to walk in it. She says it's 'invigorating'. And the Falls officially hit -46 which was a record for the day. |
