Honestly, they're not. Doctors get kickbacks on them and they claim it's the lawyers but it's not. A *lot* of countries do not give their prisoners anywhere near the quality of health care most inmates are eligible for. I'm torn on the situation, but rather than deny them that care, I certainly would like to see affordable, quality healthcare for every US citizen. But more importantly everybody need to get onboard with the concept that medical care is a necessity, not a luxury. It's my feeling that not nearly enough people believe that. Winning that battle would make determining "what level" less difficult. I can understand that it would be difficult but it shouldn't be contentious. |
