MrBig,
A 1TB recertified drive for $44 isn't cost effective when you can get a brand-new 2TB drive for $60. The extra $15 gets the full warranty and an extra TB of storage. That's worth it even if the drive is just for backups. Keep an eye on Dealmac.com for drives.
