We'll probably keep the DVD half. The streaming selection hasn't been that good and the fact that not all of the stuff has subtitles has made it less than ideal.

We have streaming/2 DVDs out at a time. We may downgrade to one DVD, but were keeping the service. The streaming is magic when you find something good. It's my belief it's still a good value, and that the earlier prices were "too low".

My real concern is that with added growth (which overall, I'm sure will still happen) Netflix will be able to show content creators more eyeballs, who will only hold that over their heads for additional revenue, same as they do with cable/sat companies who don't pony up enough initially during negotiations. You would think it could work the other way but never seems to do so.

The earlier thread here had a link saying Netflix' expenses are expected to increase several billion in the next two years. Hollywood just lives in a different universe than the rest of us, and they will do whatever is necessary to prevent their drug from depreciating value.

Edit: I should add that since the last price increase (or thereabouts) Netflix has additionally suffered postage increases. The U.S. Postal Service, already on the ropes and facing inability to pay pensions later this year without Congressional help, had been giving Netflix and similar media postage a big discount, placing Netflix' postal expenses unnaturally low since their inception.

I rarely use the streaming because it's usually SD which looks like crap on a monitor.

So my 14.99 plan just got cheaper! :fawkdance:

I said goodbye to them about 8 years ago.

I have 3 out and don't use the streaming because I'm on dial-up, so I'll stay around awhile. I just spent 15 minutes last night selling a friend on how great it is, so I'll have to give him the bad news now.

I figured something would give one day - they had a good product, great service and a good price. It seems no on can have all three.

Oh, you are soooo hip!

I'll probably keep the streaming and just add DVD if there is a few movies I want to see. Still sucks that there isn't better streaming selection. For example, we watched the first two seasons of Dexter and were forced to upgrade so we could se seasons 3 & 4 on DVD. I would totally pay $10+ / month just for streaming if they increased the streaming selection.

Re: Goodbye Netflix! - hal - 07-13-2011

once the turnaround stopped being asap, I quit. That was years ago...

Re: Goodbye Netflix! - Seacrest - 07-13-2011

I have never had a problem with turnaround.
Must be a regional thing.

In fact, it's only gotten better since they a.) started shipping on Saturdays, b.) started shipping a "bonus" DVD if they have to ship something from a far-away shipping center, c.) I stopped caring that much because I can always fill in the gaps with Watch Instantly.

Re: Goodbye Netflix! - Dennis S - 07-13-2011

My bill went down $4 since I dropped Watch Instantly.
