Thrift stores are a good idea. Pawn shops don't have a very good reputation for reasonable pricing.

I have two JVC decks that work fine. Be glad to loan one if your local to So Cal. PM me if interested.

You'd be surprised. I know someone who recently bought a used Canon autofocus film camera with a nice kit lens for under $100. He said that this camera was selling for around $350 in used camera stores. Brand new, this camera probably sold for well north of $1000. He even got a 30 day no questions asked return guarantee.

Thrift stores around here have decent cassette decks sometimes, good prices too. Might try that.

yup. picked up a Nakamichi deck (just an entry level model) for $15 years ago at the local S.A.

Salvation Army or Goodwill usually have a decent selection. And you can donate it back when you're done.

Check the newspaper for Estate Sales . . . usually held on Friday and Saturday. Google your area for Estate Sales. I have seen many, many cassette decks for sale recently . . . usually around $15.00. Make an offer . . .
