Are you saying that you know they weren't?
Are you saying their relative removal from the planet and his chronicles of willingness to do so upon first meeting, in his own logs, aren't good enough? Is everything else that his logs have recorded that we CHOOSE to take verbatim only good enough if it contains what we WANT to teach little kids while they walk around with stupid hats? Does the fact that cannibalism within the Mayflower/Jamestown contingent wasn't discussed when we were in 3rd grade mean it didn't happen...?
How can you seriously even comment on this when your first response is... "so... they weren't from the Americas, huh?" -- and then you question the accuracy of Columbus' logs??
Far better to question your understanding of the history first.... then come back later.

I say we shouldn't stop at killing Columbus day, we should also pay reparations by giving up our residency and real estate in the U.S. and moving back to our native lands. Wouldn't that be a better reward for theindiansnative americans than killing off a one day event?
And if that's too radical of an idea for you, then maybe we can attack the next holiday that upsets us. How about Thanksgiving? Shouldn't we kill off that holiday too?
Much like Columbus Day, Thanksgiving is seen by some as a celebration of the conquest and genocide of Native Americans by European colonists.
But why stop there? Maybe we should talk about the U.S. Government and how they virtually wiped out the "savages" and took their land. Not just here in the U.S. but other parts of the world as well? God Bless America, Right? 8-)

The natives weren't exactly imbued with all that is good and pleasant. Do some serious research about "King Phillip" the native american leader who sold the territory of rival tribes, and was villified by the entire region in the latter half of the 1600s. He and his followers were shunned by both sides while he was on the run. Even his family wouldn't shelter him or his cohorts. The wikipedia info has glaring omissions about his appalling acts and outright dishonesty with his fellow natives. He played both sides against each other while he collected profits from the illicit sale of tribal lands that he wasn't even a representative for.

As for Thanksgiving it is never to late to correct inaccurate reporting of history. We could also clarify that Thanksgiving is well intentioned and that it just did not likely go down as reported *(:>*

Ya know, Rudie, that last post of yours is also hard to comprehend. All I really got out of it was that you called me irrational and smoking "crunch", whatever the hell that is.
Also seems like your putting words into my mouth. I've already said that I don't believe a lot of what was written in history, including your Columbus smears. I have no proof of what happened, and neither do you.
The only proof you have is what you have read in history books or what some college instructor may have taught you to believe. Still doesn't mean that any or all of that is true. You just don't have the proof to back up your statements, as is with most of what has been written as "history".
Anyhow, I'm done with this thread. Have a happy Columbus Day! :biggrin: I know I will, and I don't even need alcohol to have fun with it! X(
