Re: Buying a used car...need advice - OWC Jamie - 12-07-2011 Intended use is really a separate issue. I've never done carfax, but I have paid mechanic shop a hundred bucks to look for potential problems. If nothing else you might find some warrantee or safety recalls that need to be done. Re: Buying a used car...need advice - Mr645 - 12-07-2011 Here in Florida, any Hybrid or any motorcycle can use the HOV lane at any time. Hybrids get a registration sticker with a green box around it. So even a Chevy Tahoe Hybrid gets in. Or you can just print a green box around you regular sticker and get by with any car Re: Buying a used car...need advice - N-OS X-tasy! - 12-07-2011 Psurfer wrote: ...and no parking on the dance floor! ![]() Re: Buying a used car...need advice - wowzer - 12-07-2011 Ah...I posted too quickly and garnered a lot of howls of protest...the HOV lanes permit a single driver with specific high MPG cars. I like the idea of a mechanic overlooking the car, but the car is in CT while I live in NY. I doubt that they'll be amenable to that. Does anyone know of a reputable mechanic in Greenwich, CT? Re: Buying a used car...need advice - Robert M - 12-07-2011 Wowzer, No doubt you can find a lemon checker - a company that specializes in inspecting used cars for potential purchasers - in Greenwich. But, have you looked locally for an eligible car? I can't imagine that there aren't any on Long Island. But, you may not find one with such low mileage. I think a more important question to ask, is this worth it just for the privilege of using the HOV lane? Personally, if I had the option, I'd avoid the LIE entirely! Robert |
