Re: Heartbreaking article, "Trayvon Martin, my son, and the Black Male Code" - graylocks - 03-24-2012 add to the Code not to walk through a store with your hands in your sweatshirt or jacket pockets. it's what i've told my son. it's what i've remembered to do in the north or south for the last 5 decades as an african american female. It's simply not true that over the course of American history, 'hippies, hipsters, teenage boys, K-Mart Shoppers, people with backpacks, or gingers' have been targeted in ways that begin to compare with racially-motivated violence. and some people need to hate so badly that they can find racism in an empty glass of water. Do you think people finding racism "in an empty glass of water" is as big a problem as violence against someone based on their race? Or do you think there isn't any racially-motivated violence? I don't understand why you made that comment. Is it just that you feel that you need to add an obligatory "some people find racism in an empty glass of water" comment to any thread that talks about racism? billb just tipped his hand. Re: Heartbreaking article, "Trayvon Martin, my son, and the Black Male Code" - $tevie - 03-24-2012 I read that article earlier today. I posted a story from npr with a similar theme on the other side a few days ago. I wouldn't be so arrogant as to attempt to argue with someone's life experiences. I guess I'm just a sucker for empirical knowledge. Re: Heartbreaking article, "Trayvon Martin, my son, and the Black Male Code" - Dennis S - 03-24-2012 samintx wrote: You have got to be kidding.
