Re: need a laptop for $600 - Filliam H. Muffman - 04-04-2012 There have been several blowout sales on laptops under $500 because of the coming Ivy Bridge models. If your friend can wait a few weeks, they will likely be selling off the MBA competitors from last Fall, at just under $600. Re: need a laptop for $600 - SteveO - 04-04-2012 Yeah, I often see new, major brand peecee lappies for $400, some at 15". Or maybe take a look at some late-model black macbook used; I had a bmb 2.4ghz that was a great machine. I sold it about 2 years ago for maybe 800 or so IIRC. I look back and I wonder why I sold that one. It was a great machine. Re: need a laptop for $600 - Buzz - 04-04-2012 techbargains.com is your/her friend.... Re: need a laptop for $600 - Carm - 04-05-2012 JDC, I was able to get refurb intel i5 Dell latitude 14" 4GB RAM with 3 year warranty for less than $500 including tax/shipping. It was the computer I got for my Masters classwork last year. My recommondation is to say away from Low end Toshiba,Dell,Compaq. They are made of plastic and will fall apart. My first Windows PC was an Inspiron, the first thing to go on it was the hinges, after that the computer was pretty much useless. Got my son a Toshiba laptop when he transitioned to middle school (his school has iMacs in the design classes), the first thing to go on the laptop was the hinges. I was able to get some replacement hinges and fixed it, it was almost unsaveable because of the plastic housing. As for the crapware, Revo Unistaller works great, or you can nuke and pave (best option). Edit: Just checked my email. I have two Dell Outlet codes. 20% off E6320 and E6220 E6220 starts at $619 before 20%off. 12.5 LCD,i5 2520M 4gb Ram 250GB HD. 3 year warranty. E6320 starts at $639 b4 20%off, 13.3 LCD, i3-2330M, 4gb ram, 320GB HD, 3 year warranty. Codes expire on 9th. If you would like them, let me know. The computers are from the Dell Outlet. Refurbs.
