The violence: No problem. It's cartoon/comic violence and not at all scary or gory.
The flying whales: How do you feel about breaking suspension of disbelief?

Thanks for the replies. I think it would probably be okay to take them, though my younger one may not have an attention span to last 2 hours.

It's long too - I think it's closer to 2 and a half hours.

I brought my twin 6 year olds...they loved it. Sat through the entire movie with nary a word. It was fine for a kid--it is a marvel movie afterall.
