Considering the first and last sentences of your post, it didn't sound idle.
As to the next generation of iPads, Apple could keep the 2, drop the current "New" and make the next iPad "the New". I too am curious.
But I'm glad that Apple doesn't go for complicated model names and numbers for the street names, like Sony or some other manufacturers.
