I wonder if he'll grow up to be democrat or republican

I suspect he will grow up and vote for what HE believes in, not along any particular party line.

On the other hand...

We explained to our then-small kids how, if anything happened to Mommy and Daddy, they'd go to live with Aunt Jeannie and Uncle Jonathan and their favorite cousins. Daughter was emotional, but her younger brother just looked thoughtful. Oh, no, we wondered, is he overwhelmed? But then he looked up and said "But now we know-- how do you know we won't poison you?'

Ha! Similarly my sister explained to her young daughter that if anything happened to mommy and daddy, that she would go live with Aunt Tere and Uncle Jim. After thinking about it for a minute she asked her mom "So how will I get to the airport?" My sister just looked at her and said "You can take a cab"
