I can't use metal because the horses noses are so delicate... they are accident prone! Tempting because it's so easy to work with.
Here is the company's site: http://thenaturalfeeder.com/ you can see the product. Shipping was about $100 even buying through the distributor(90 minute drive to pick them up).

If it's these pieces that you need made, it won't be difficult or expensive for a shop that works plastics!
Particularly if you can work a deal with the distributor, and have a shop tool up and make a hundred or more.

Yes, those are the parts! I think they would work fine if they were just flat, too. The ones I have don't look like that(thinner, brittle, and a little too wide/tall to fit right)but those are the ones I need. I know of 4 of these feeders in use in my state, so I don't know about making 100, but it does seem doable even if I had to do something by hand with a 'blank' piece of plastic. Still I shouldn't have to do something like this, but it beats paying the bad guy for replacement parts.

There has to be something you can coat it with. What about that stuff you paint concrete floors in garages with? Isn't it a little soft?

I thought about dipping them in that plastic dip, but the remote risk is that they'll put a foot right through the grate and while that'd be bad with plastic, it'd be REALLY bad with metal even if it were coated. You'd be amazed at how good they are at finding a way to hurt themselves.
