Wait a minute! Aren't we supposed to block it?
I am on 10.6.8.

The exploit is in Java 7 only, not Java 6.

Re: Mac Java 7 - Grateful11 - 01-14-2013

Here's what I get in Terminal:

Java -version
No Java runtime present, requesting install.

Basically the same as Java Preferences.

you don't have it installed; this is the 10.7 and 10.8 default.

Do I need it and if so why ?

Re: Mac Java 7 - decay - 01-14-2013

if you've been using your Mac and have not been prompted to install it, then you don't need it.

if you want to use Java-based applications, like Crashplan or JDownloader, you will need it.

try going without it & see how you fare.

Re: Mac Java 7 - Surfrider - 01-14-2013

So if I installed Java 7 I'm screwed?

You just need to update it.
