He's talking about the hundreds of millions (billions?) of dollars of AAPL that he and his friends purchased while it was on sale. Now he's boosting the price so they can all buy an island somewhere. But that's just a guess (probably a disturbingly accurate guess though)

You are such a cynic !

He may be cynical but I think this is more likely closer to the analyst's motive than actual insider knowledge of a new "game changing" product.

I believe we know as much or more about Apple's upcoming products than most sell-side analysts do. Sell-side analysts are paid by their brokerage firm and the brokerage firm makes money when their clients churn their portfolios.

$AAPL: Apple AAPL +2.19% shares rallied nearly 2% after Ben Reitzes at Barclays Capital raised the stock’s price target to $525 from $465. The analyst believes that Apple “is about to change the narrative and get investors, analysts, customers and the media finally talking about new products again.”

Who gives a damn? AAPL is currently stupidly underpriced even if Apple never releases another new product.

Exactly. What wailer and ztirffritz said.

The analyst really went out on a limb. Uhmmm, as each day passes without announcement of a new product, it's one day closer to Apple doing just that. The guy knows nothing and is likely doing as described above. Happens every day with hundreds of companies.
