Try sanding and caulking the molding, sanding the door, then paint the molding and door in complementary colors--for instance you could go a light blue-grey for the molding and a darkish burnt orange--burnt sienna for the door, or dark green/burgundy, gold/purplish, etc. Squint at some paint chips to see what you like. There are many houses in Baltimore that have this two-toned color scheme, and they look very nice, and instantly more expensive. This example is a little gaudy but you can see the effect, and imagine toning it down a bit. These houses actually look lovely passing by.
