Re: this is torture... - DinerDave - 08-17-2013 Boy, Wowzer, I feel your pain. After 30 years of marital bliss, just call me Flo, cuz I go with it. Dave Re: this is torture... - eustacetilley - 08-17-2013 First I had to look up "Nine West". I'd rather not have known. A couple of decades back, I bought my First Mate a pair of Sperrys. (Note that she was my First Mate in a strictly nautical sense.) They fit perfectly, and she actually wore them out after a few years, on the foredeck, climbing rocks, painting her house; anywhere that slipping in wet conditions could prove disastrous. She wore them out, and they had acquired some unique coloring. So I decided to buy her a second pair, with her husband's advice and consent. His one warning: "Buy one size larger. Her feet, like her mouth, gets bigger with age." (His words, not mine. But she did seem easier to understand yelling back aft at me.) Since getting out of High School, I've never set foot in a shoe store. Shoes are so much easier to buy, and even cheaper, when they are surrounded by piles of life jackets, flare guns, and other similar relatively unnecessary things. I drive barefoot. In fact, since retiring, my wearing of shoes is down to probably under an hour a week, and only in those places that really insist: weddings, funerals, traffic court. Since it looks like I'm getting back into Sailing, it looks like I'll need to buy some new Sperrys. One size larger. What's up with that? Eustace Re: this is torture... - sekker - 08-17-2013 If you don't speak 'Shoes', don't go shopping! My wife drops me off elsewhere when she wants to shoe shop. Re: this is torture... - cbelt3 - 08-17-2013 I go with. And drove my daughter bats mocking the lack of tread in women's "boots". Until she bought a pair I liked, and loved them .
