No starbases, no resupply, no repair stations, etc. I know there'd be other means and trading partners and etc., but it would have made more sense had the ship looked a little patchworked by the end of the series.

So her approach was more likely to be to investigate, examine, and come up with possible nonviolent solutions, but... after awhile, like most scientists, she'll just get fed up and do what needs to be done. My favorite line is when she tells the alien, "I don't like you!" rather than trying to talk the alien to death, as would Picard.
