I'm no fan of macfanboys either, but those 50-something MS/PC fanboys are looking really, really out of touch with reality these days...

Why? I can still buy cheaper and often faster PCs when compared to a Mac. I can also happily not use Windows on the same hardware. Linux or if the specs are right, OS X.
I'm not sure who is being a PC/Windows cheerleader in this thread before the obligatory "Dell sucks" type post appeared.
Here's a real world anecdote. I have a Core 2 Duo Mac mini server for sale. I offered it to a friend for $300, that includes helping him set it up. Instead he got a newer, faster, non Mac PC for less. Open box clearance PC from BestBuy. It isn't a big tower either, while bigger than the Mac mini, it isn't huge. He is perfectly happy, even using Windows 8. My friend is not anti Mac by any means, but he is pro consumer, pro bang for your buck.
I think he did well for himself, all things considered.

Another personal anecdote. I've started phasing out my Macs, because I consider myself reasonably tech savvy enough to find the right hardware that meets my needs. While I would prefer OS X for many things (I ran three hackintoshes for over a year), I'm not adverse to other OSes. I prefer not to use Windows, but if I wanted an iOS sync and Airport configuration box, I'd probably get the smallest most inexpensive Windows box on the market and call it a day.
I used to be one of the biggest Apple fans around, but I like saving money more than giving it to big companies. Probably just getting old and crotchety.

A Dell outlet purchase with a stacked 20-30% off coupon can lead to very good deals on hardware.
I've made a few such Dell purchases, and my experience was uniformly good including tech support under warranty.
I just wish they'd make a mac mini clone in a slightly larger box - would be an ideal mid-sized tower hackintosh.

Here's good one: Hal, I can tell right off the bat that you own a Mac computer or one of those feminine IPads or maybe a crappy IPhone... that guy was awesome!

Somebody said that on a Dell Community thread about the U2711 not working with Mac minis and some PCs, and Dell's lack of response.
People complain about Apple ignoring issues, but Dell set a new standard with the incompatibility issue.
I won't be buying another Dell monitor. If I need anything smaller than an Apple product, maybe Acer or one of the other smaller, lesser known brands will be fine.

Ah…yeah, that's unfortunate. There's enough actual complaints to go around for any company, why be stupid about it? I think the problem was the first Mac or possibly even first two Macs (the 512 was much better, but it was still pretty limited), really were fancy toys. They could be used for real work, but a dearth of apps and very limited specs were deal breakers for many people. On the other hand, the presence of a GUI and mouse was not a sign of a toy contrary to some people's assertions.
