The dog is going to be put down. No word if its owner will share the same fate.

Just saw a teaser for our 11o'clock news. They are going to show the video.

That video makes me sick.

Awesome cat. And the dog may deserve to be put down. I came in after reading the subject, not knowing what to expect, but wanting to defend dogs. But, obviously, I am on the cat's side of this one.

If the neighbor didn't put down that dog, I'd cost him/her a pretty penny.

Always some DB who needs to talk tough about lawsuits.

I'm on the cat's side especially because the cat looks just like my recently departed Kiddy, but I don't see why the dog has to be killed. I could train that dog.

The owner of that dog needs to be arrested. It's horrible he would train the dog to do that.

That said, if that attack happened to one of my people, both the dog AND the owner would regret it. Screw the proper authorities, street justice all the way.

Who says cats aren't loyal? I watched a version of this that had a clip of the boy back home cuddling with the cat: awwww! Based on that, I'm going with Cat Defends his Boy.

That's my interpretation of the video as well. While it's true that cats can be territorial, this particular cat clearly views the boy as a member of her "pride", and cats can be fiercely loyal to their family unit (to which those of us who've had cats, can attest). Seeing this cat with her family, it's pretty obvious that she chose them as her pride. I think they showed another video where the parents told the story of how they came to have this particular cat... apparently, it was a stray that followed them home at one point while they were dating/before they married. The cat clearly chose them, and sees the little boy as "hers"! Big Grin

The dog had been around the boy in the past without issue. They have cameras because the boy has autism. The mother hadn't seen what the cat did until she saw the video. Mother was also bitten when she went after the dog. (Mom will carry a baseball bat next time she goes after a dog.)
