From what I've heard, Hauer wrote those lines himself, and surprised Ridley Scott in saying them.

I am RIGHT there with you. And now it's time to turn the soundtrack on.

I think that at Harrison's age, it would be very tough to work a convincing love interest into the movie.

Lightning rarely strikes twice.

You know his wife is more than 20 years his junior, right?
Such things are not as difficult to make "convincing" as they used to be...
I see that as the least of the problems they would have making this movie.

my take is that the director and the actor(s) are well aware of the feelings surrounding this film and have little desire to screw it up. of course, money may be the primary motivator here, but I still believe that they will respect the original and not try to recreate the iconic scenes or visuals but invent a new paradigm. whether or not that takes place (and viewers will accept it) remain to be seen.

When has a sequel this far removed from the original ever worked well? I can't think of any off hand.

Prometheus was a mess. I no longer have faith that Ridley Scott can do a decent sequel to Blade Runner.

I still believe that they will respect the original and not try to recreate the iconic scenes or visuals but invent a new paradigm.

That's where most of the land mines end up.

I love the film noir feel of the original(s), and am one of three people on Earth who didn't mind the narration. Getting that feeling right could be really tough.

A new paradigm? Yes, it's been just short of forever since the original, and it could be said that a lot had changed between the two. But that seldom works for me. I end up feeling like the movies have nothing in common and are trying to ride on the original.

Ford could play a key role, if there is another good lead to do the action. If he was just the "legend" revisited for info, I'd feel ripped off.

So I'll see it. My Expectations Bar will be managed, so maybe I'll enjoy it.

But sequels are *rarely* satisfactory.

And I'm an "easy" movie-goer.
