MacTech is a pretty good magazine if you're a real geek.

I'm not but maybe now I'll give it my subscription dollars.

I thought the death knell was when MacWeek folded up shop.
It was nice when there ample Mac news to support weekly print media.

I always preferred MacUser anyways.

My favorite was MacAddict!
I believe the UK versions is still in publication.

Does the "D." in "Jack D." stand for "Reacher"? Big Grin

It's not so much that there isn't sufficient Mac news to support weekly publication, it's that the Internet disseminates information so much faster than printed media - information in printed media is already old by the time it hits the stands.

That's why I've always liked the UK Mac magazines better. They don't just disseminate information. They usually have tutorials on how to actually use your Mac and various software packages. MacAddict used to be like that. They lost that focus many years ago though. I will always be thankful to MacAddict though for a tutorial they ran back in the 90s on how to use Usenet, and particularly MT Newswatcher, on the Mac. I had been using Outlook Express and Mozilla on Usenet, but they were clunky at best. I still use MT Newswatcher almost every day. It no longer runs on Mavericks, but I have a Parallels VM of SL whose sole purpose is to run MT Newswatcher.

Yep. Just read a recent issue at the local library. It was pleasant enough, but I wouldn't subscribe.

Somewhere in my garage lurks the issue of Byte with the first Mac on the cover.
