Re: Not happy with the quality of text on my new 17" Samsung LCD, Suggestions? - Baby Tats - 08-18-2006 Oh and I could try a return but I already sent the rebate in so no UPC on the box. I am sure I could send it to Samsung under warranty, but if it is within spec I would hate to get one back with the same problem and also a stuck/bad pixel as this one is blemish free. I am willing to invest in a used AGP card with DVI if it is likely to help. BT Your Gigabit Ethernet machine should have and ADC connector. So all you would need would be an ADC to DVI converter, not a whole new AGP card. Hi, Depends on the quality of the analog to digital conversion in the particular monitor. Re: Not happy with the quality of text on my new 17" Samsung LCD, Suggestions? - Dick Moore - 08-19-2006 Tats, Jerry made a great suggestion and it bears trying out. I also found a setting on one of the LCDs that I've had through here lately called "phase" and it really helped with text across the whole screen. Seriously - the problem you are describing is exactly what I encountered. But like I said - it fixed it - but I don't know why. give it a try Re: Not happy with the quality of text on my new 17" Samsung LCD, Suggestions? - Baby Tats - 08-19-2006 [quote Jerry®] Turn off mirroring and use it as an extended desktop - then go into the arrangement and click and drag the menu bar part from your primary display to the LCD - then go back and turn ON mirroring. Worked for me. I don't know why - but it worked. Jerry Jerry- This is a single display running off a desktop unit. There is no mirroring or extended destop. But thanks for the advice. I have been thinking about your problem and it reminded me of something that I saw a couple of years ago on a PC laptop. It made me wonder if your problem (feature) isn't tied somehow to the Intel graphics chip. Anyway, I'm going to try some of the suggestions and post back. Wow, thanks for the advance warning! I'm still happy with my CRT, the Apple ADC display, but I'm starting to wonder if it's time for a change. Unfortunately, the video card on my box has only ADC and VGA connections. |
