These processors are perfectly fine for the vast majority of Mini users but there are a few people out there who very much appreciate the concentrated power available in the quad core Mini package. Even a single quad core option for those of us is was a logical thing for Apple to do.

The addition of the second Thunderbolt port more than makes up for that, IMO. More flexible external options are necessary for a computer like the Mini.
