Installing, with "18 minutes left." Been that way for 10 minutes but isn't frozen.

Betting Apple's servers are getting hammered. I'll walk away and let it ride. Tomorrow morning it'll either be done or bricked and need a restore from backup. Either way I don't care tonight.

But does Apple still let you restore from backup once you "upgrade"?
I have a Mac made in 2008. I can go pretty far back with the OS if I want.

rgc, you are correct. I am not 100% with it. I fell asleep twice trying to use it after the initial install. So far I'm finding the windows confusing because they are not as defined as they were before. I also do not understand where all the information at the top of the screen went. The dock seems to be stuck in a mode where it hides itself and I can't seem to make it stick. It is quite possible these are easy fixes and I just need to keep digging.

Safari is faster on my '11 MBA but remarkable on my '12 Mini, wow!

Mine downloaded in 40 minutes earlier. I ran the installer and it seems to be doing fine.

Wow, this is interesting. Everything's so small! Hate to say it but even though the font(s) remind me a lot of Arial the kerning or whatever makes it easy to read, even small. And that strikes me as odd, you'd think they'd default to make it better on new screens/higher resolutions and not my 1440x900 laptop.

System Preferences has an Extensions pane ... complete with puzzle piece icon. Wikipedia may need to update this page.

Even with the flatness there seems to be more contrast where you don't expect it and brighter colors for icons; this could be a net positive for usability despite the blandness.

Everything seems much faster. This is not an OS to make old hardware feel old.

My download took about 2 hours (no progress bar, installer opened when done).

Then about 30 minutes to install. It restarted at least two times and there were three different progress bars: 1st was 20+ minutes, second about one minute, and last one was about 8 minutes.

Everything seems to be working just fine. Safari seems fast. I like the look.

I am a happy camper!

Overall, I really like Yosemite.

But I think I should start a pool to see who's the first to say "It's the worst OS Apple has ever shipped!!!"

Well, I accidentally clicked on the update, so it is downloading now.
I do not see a "stop download" option either.
I guess I can just not install, when it finishes, if I want to wait.

Looks like it was downloading the 10.9.5 update, instead of the 10.10.
I cancelled out and I am now DLing the 10.10
Actually I am going to pause it and do it tomorrow.
