Re: Under clocking? - silvarios - 03-23-2015 Again, the links I've seen haven't shown too much. Appreciate any links with !ore exhaustive numbers? I really do appreciate the info. Thanks. Re: Under clocking? - sekker - 03-23-2015 Another energy saving list: http://www.maclife.com/article/howtos/how-get-better-macbook-battery-life Re: Under clocking? - sekker - 03-23-2015 Here's a site that talks about Safari saving power: http://features.en.softonic.com/os-x-10-9-mavericks-how-to-improve-battery-life "Apple's browser now includes a tool called Safari Power Saver, which prevents plugins loading automatically. Its surveillance weapons are Flash and Silverlight. How many times has a video (usually an ad) started straight away when you open a web page? With Safari, it'll be blocked by default. If you decide you do want to start it, just click on it. With these two measures, you'll definitely notice an increase in battery life on your Mac. Moral of the story: changing Chrome or Firefox to Safari could prolong the battery life on your Mac." Re: Under clocking? - silvarios - 03-23-2015 Wouldn't click to play, which other browser also have, work as well? Re: Under clocking? - sekker - 03-23-2015 I do not see a ton with numbers - just noting that Safari seems to be cleaner. Chrome can definitely be a hog for sure! Re: Under clocking? - silvarios - 03-23-2015 Thanks for the lists. Power savings tips are always appreciated. Re: Under clocking? - pinion - 03-23-2015 silvarios wrote: I second that! Thanks everybody. I'm going to try and implement some of this tonight. For whoever asked about how long I get, I feel like it's about 3 hours of actual use. Again, a 2011 MBP 13". The HDD in it is one of those weird HDD, SSD hybrids where all the logic is controlled with the hdd itself. Re: Under clocking? - pinion - 03-26-2015 To update: I tried just one thing tonight. Created a new user account and started using it. The battery life is so much improved it's crazy. I've probably been using the other user account for the last 3 or 4 versions and migrating over each upgrade. Who knows what the problem is. I've been on for 2 hours and I still have 63% left. I'm pretty happy about that. |
