have you tried going through Hotwire.com? that's where I get my rentals. or Priceline but that's a bit more work.

I just booked Ford Escape-size rentals for both Florida and California for around $225 a week.
The only problem is that it being Costco, you have to rent six of them LOL.
+1 on Costco Travel, we've got a two-day rental (Corolla class) scheduled for May that costs just over $40.

During the Fall and Winter, it's possible to rent a car from Enterprise for $10 per day on the weekends. You are however limited to 100 miles per day. After that you are charged a mileage fee. However, as long as you're not driving huge distances, it can still end up being cheaper than the normal daily rate. You just have to crunch the numbers to find out how many extra miles you can drive before it become cheaper to take the normal rate.

retailmenot.com and other coupon sites usually have a discount code for the major car rental places.
I've found Budget to be cheapest the last few times I've rented.
