Re: 4 Dead In O-HI-O... 45 Years Ago Today - ka jowct - 05-05-2015 I was at the University of Wisconsin. The situation was already very, very tense, and after that, it got much worse. The university wisely ended the semester early, giving students the option of taking pass/fail grades on any of their courses. The local cops were notorious for beating the crap out of students whenever they got a chance, often covering their badge numbers. Beating up a Newsweek photographer, trashing a local food co-op whenever they had a chance, in one incident chasing people into house and throwing in tear gas, then blocking the exits. The tear-gassed group included some reporters. I remember having to walk inches away from fixed bayonets in one peaceful demonstration; of course the National Guard was on that campus as well.
